Across the Country children are at risk crossing the road because of Gordon Brown's means testing according to Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming. "I have problems in my constituency", he said "where we cannot fill vacancies for crossing wardens because the wardens lose too much of their means tested benefits if they earn £40 per week. A warden can end up with only £5 in their pocket."
"This comes from the replacement of a basic state pension by an increase in means testing. This is putting children at risk on their way into school. I have written to Gordon Brown MP to ask him to look at the way in which crossing wardens are being phased out by means testing."
