Commenting on the Prime Minister's visit to Israel and the Occupied Territories, Liberal Democrat Leader Menzies Campbell said "The Prime Minister's well-intentioned visit to the Middle East will only produce dividends if he able to persuade the White House of the urgency of the situation.

"There are three flash points: Israel and the Palestinians, Lebanon, and Iraq. Only a comprehensive settlement will reduce the possibility of conflagration throughout the region.

"Only the United States has the leverage to make that possible."
