REMARKABLE THAT CRIME CHECKS NOT CARRIED OUT ON LOCAL NHS STAFF - RICHARD BURT

Commenting on BBC research claiming that criminal record checks have not been carried out on tens of thousands of NHS staff, local Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt said:

"It is remarkable that a scheme that is in place to help carry out these checks and make patients more secure is being ignored in so many cases.

"People at their most vulnerable are at a greater risk because these checks haven't been made.

"The same standards should apply across the board. It makes no sense to have different sets of standards depending on what point somebody started to work for a trust."
