Lorely Burt MP has emerged from her meeting with Ford and Land Rover management in Westminster this afternoon after seeking assurances regarding Ford's intentions for the long term future for Land Rover and Jaguar in the region.
Mrs Burt was told by Ford Vice-President, Joe Greenwell, that "Ford is not a cut and run company" and that "we are a responsible employer".
The Solihull MP said she was heartened by the discussions but "Ford must now prove that they will not cut and run, and that they are truly wedded to the long term interests of both companies and their employees in the region."
Mrs Burt was told that any future plans would take time to put in place and that Ford would wish to continue supplying major components to both Land Rover and Jaguar if the sale of either company was eventually agreed.
