'CHANCE OF A LIFETIME FOR SOLIHULL YOUNG PEOPLE' - BURT

Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt is urging young people in the borough to consider volunteering overseas with Platform 2 this summer. Paid for by the Department for International Development, the fully funded trips are run by Christian Aid, Islamic Relief and BUNAC, and there are still 150 spaces left to apply for.
"Platform2 is a unique opportunity to volunteer overseas and then come back and creatively express your experience in your community. It's for people who might not otherwise get the chance to volunteer in a developing country. The trip is fully-funded. All you have to pay for is transport to and from your interview, to and from Heathrow Airport, and any passport costs," said Lorely
"You could be going to countries such as Ghana, South Africa, Kenya India or Peru for a life-changing 10 week placement which will make a real difference to the local community.
"If you're 18-25 (at the time of travel) and have or are eligible for a UK passport, you can apply now for a trip in May or August. You can get more details and download an application form at www.myplatform2.com
