British government cannot ignore shift in opinion in the US - Campbell

Commenting on the passing of the resolution in the US Congress opposing George Bush's troop increases and the discussions in the Senate on whether to vote on the same resolution, Liberal Democrat Leader, Menzies Campbell said:

"This is a serious reverse for White House strategy and underlines the growing anxiety in the US about continuing commitment in Iraq.

"The British Government simply cannot ignore this massive shift in opinion in the US. The case for a phased withdrawal by the end of October grows stronger everyday."
