She has signed a motion in Westminster calling on the travel industry and providers of travel insurance to provide a fairer service to pensioners, who often find themselves paying far more than others for their travel insurance and can be restricted in their use of travel insurance that comes bundled with package holidays.
"They are routinely excluded from policies included with holiday packages, are also excluded from some directly purchased travel insurance multi-trip policies after the age of 70 years, regardless of whether or not they are in good health.
"Any cover that is available is a great deal more expensive than that offered to under-65s. The travel industry and providers of travel insurance must put in place a system that is fairer to its older customers."
