LYNDON RESIDENTS' MAST PROTEST GATHERS PACE

10.19.16pm GMT Tue 3rd Apr 2007

Residents from Highwood Avenue, Summerfield Road, Knightsbridge Road and the surrounding streets in Lyndon met yesterday with LibDem ward councillors and Lorely Burt MP to protest about H3G plans for a 12.5 meter high phone mast outside the Highwood pub.

Around thirty residents responded to the call from the Liberal Democrat candidate for Lyndon, Ken Rushen to meet their MP and three ward councillors to voice their concerns.

Mr Rushen has also organised a petition signed by over 250 residents that will be handed to the council when a formal application is received from Hutchison 3G UK protesting about the proposed siting of the mast, which they say is too close to residential housing and nearby Ulverley School.

Ken Rushen said:

Lorely Burt MP - LYNDON RESIDENTS’ MAST PROTEST GATHERS PACE

"We need to head this one off at the pass and make sure Hutchison know residents are dead set against their plans to site a phone mast twice the height of most houses here.

"It's disgraceful that mobile phone companies still try to site these masts in residential areas.

"People are determined to fight this proposal tooth and nail and I hope that the company will pause for thought and drop the plans."
