Bullying still a problem for the Army - Harvey

5.05.45pm GMT Wed 2nd May 2007

Commenting on the release of the latest UK Armed Forces Internal Attitude Survey released today, which says that nearly a third of soldiers have complained about unfair treatment, discrimination, harassment and bullying, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defence Secretary, Nick Harvey MP said:

"After ten years of Blair and Brown, the Army still cannot deal with bullying. It is deeply worrying that nearly half of those soldiers who make complaints about their treatment feel that they have suffered as a result.

"Too many troops are dissatisfied with the way their complaints are handled as well as the time it takes to resolve them.

"Labour has been happy to send our troops into action, but has stretched the military covenant to breaking point. These men and women are putting their lives on the line for this country. The least they deserve in return is fair treatment."
