PLANNING CHANGES MUST NOT FURTHER DISEMPOWER LOCAL COMMUNITIES - RICHARD BURT
11.22.13pm GMT Mon 21st May 2007
Commenting ahead of the expected publication of the Planning White Paper tomorrow [Monday], Richard Burt, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire said:
"There's a real risk the White Paper will change the planning system to benefit the few at the expense of the many.
"All the indications suggest the changes will help Labour's friends in the nuclear and supermarket industries, rather than giving local people a genuine say in planning.
"Gordon Brown mustn't sacrifice local say in planning and sustainable development in a bogus quest for faster decisions.
"Citizens in Worcestershire need a say when big decisions are made, rather than having them imposed on from a 'we know better government'."
