Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt has praised record sales for Land Rover for the first half of '07, up 8% on last year's figures.

The Solihull based company sold 108,874 units worldwide in six months and has exceeded all expectations, posting the best half year sales performance in Land Rover's history.

Mrs Burt meets Land Rover Managing Director, Phil Popham this afternoon and will have the opportunity to see some of the latest environmental engine technology that Land Rover is working on.

Lorely Burt MP said:

"These figures prove that Land Rover is a world class business competing successfully in the global market. The company is a jewel in the crown for Ford and a credit to the entire workforce that have contributed to it's growing success.

"There are already record levels of investment in clean burn engine technology and I am confident that Land Rover will continue to meet the increasing demand for environmental improvements and engine performance that customers are demanding."
