MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE TRIUMPH FOR LIBDEM CANDIDATE10.18.06pm GMT Tue 17th Jul 2007 West Worcestershire's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt led his team to victory in the 'Flying A' class of the Severn Trent Mountain Challenge last weekend. The twenty-one mile course in the Dark Peak National Park was completed in 6hours 32mins, with the team of four coming home 25 minutes ahead of their nearest rivals.
Mr Burt, a former fell running and marathon champion said it was pleasing to win the event for the second year running and raise over £200 for WaterAid through sponsorship. "The weather was kind, which meant the mountain rescue teams had a quiet day! I think this will be my last mountain challenge as I am beginning to feel the stress and strain on the knees, but it was good to go out on a winning note. "Anyone who still wants to sponsor me can do it online by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/richardburt Donations will help provide clean water to some of the poorest people on the planet."
