SOLIHULL MP CONDEMNS LATEST RED ROUTE AS 'WASTE OF MONEY'6.18.00pm GMT Tue 14th Aug 2007 Solihull MP, Lorely Burt has reacted to the announcement that work will commence on the latest red route on the A45 between Goodway Road and the M42 Junction 6, claiming it is a 'waste of taxpayers money'. Mrs Burt has written to Solihull MBC saying that a red route on the A45 is 'overkill' because there has never been a problem with parked vehicles on this section of the A45.
"I know from previous schemes how expensive it is to implement these red routes and wonder about the wisdom of throwing public money at it just because the money is there", said Lorely Burt Liberal Democrat Councillor for Elmdon, Jean Hamilton has also written to Council Officers saying the protest was a "grotesque waste of money" and added "not one Elmdon resident has spoken to me in support of this red route."
