BURT BACKS BLACK PEAR CREDIT UNION11.11.25pm GMT Tue 16th Oct 2007 Richard Burt helped Black Pear Credit Union get off to a flying start at their official launch in Malvern last week. The Worcestershire based credit union has teamed up with Festival Housing to offer an outlet for savings and loans at the housing association's offices off Townsend Way. The Liberal Democrat Candidate opened a savings account with Black Pear and encouraged Malvern residents to take advantage of the secure savings and small loan scheme on offer. Richard Burt said:
"Legal loan sharks can charge up to 177% APR on small loans for people who are least able to pay. Credit Unions are an ideal alternative to help people save and offer reasonable rates for loans under £2000 when families need that little bit extra. "I am delighted to be able to support Black Pear's activities in Malvern and look forward to them extending to other areas in the county which could equally benefit."
