En ter the building on the left hand side.  We have 2 x training rooms – Teme and Severn Wye.  Make your way into the Severn Wye room which is the 2nd door on the left as you enter the building. 


The building is an old Victorian school.  There is some parking on site and further parking at a car park about 100m down the road from the venue and in plain sight.  As you are looking at the Mascall centre, the car park is down the road on the left. 

Public transport

9 minute walk from the station.

Those arriving by train should alight at Ludlow station and walk down Station drive to Upper Galdeford.  Take a right and follow the road up to some shops (note post office) Follow the road around a bend to the left and walk down Lower Galdeford.  The Mascall centre will be on your right.

Session detail

  • Advanced literature – Write about what appeals to the electorate, and do it in a way that gets buy in
  • Introduction to Focus and literature – Get the know how on how to do straightforward literature and basic writing using page plus software
  • Winning the postal vote - Identifying the postal voters, understanding why it's import and and what to do to win it
  • Knocking on doors / minivan - Starts with why, how to overcome basic objections, how to know when to move on, closing down the conversation, understanding the data - recording that in minivan.
  • Getting your message right - Understanding political messaging. Principles, policy, message and slogans.  Understanding what makes effective messages and what doesn't.  Developing your own local message. 
  • Direct mail - Understanding the effectiveness of direct mail, identifying groups to target and best way to build a relationship and get message across.
  • Building a candidate brand - How to understand your local community, to develop your profile within it and to use community campaigning as part of election campaign.

Accessible and disability friendly

The building is disability friendly.  All training rooms are on the ground floor, toilet facilities are opposite the training rooms and there is a ramp to gain access to the building.


Please take the time at the end of the day to complete an evaluation form – your feedback is very important and is used to help to improve the service you receive.    

After training social event

9 minute walk from the Mascall Centre.

From 4.30pm onwards - The Globe Inn, in Ludlow for an informal Lib Dem Pint style gathering (note - please bring funds as the training budget doesn’t stretch to post event drinks)

Take a left out of the Mascall Centre and go up the hill and into the town centre.  Bear left on Kings Street and take a right onto Market Street.  The Globe Inn is at number 3  Market Street. 

Make a night of it

For anyone who wants to get the best out of Ludlow and stay for dinner, the following restaurants come highly recommended by local members:

  • The Queens (a Pub with decent food)
  • The French Pantry, Tower Street (under new management just a couple of weeks ago)
  • Bakers, Tower Street
  • The Fish House (Lobster and champagne anyone?)
  • Carvell's (a small tearoom)
  • The Angel Wine and Cheese Bar, Broad Street
  • The Smokehouse Deli and Cicchetti Bar, in Broad Street next to the above.
