An open letter to everyone disappointed today.
Today, almost half the people who voted yesterday are left disappointed. Many are confused, angry, hurt. It seems that Britain has taken a lurch towards insularity, towards fear of foreigners, towards a 1970s world that never really existed.
I won’t pretend to be happy with the result. I cannot take any joy in the resignation of David Cameron.
What I can say is, this is not the first nor is it the last of many political battles. We don’t have a way of refighting this one, but there are going to be many others.
If you want to take a more active role in guiding our society, I would love to welcome you into the Liberal Democrats. We have stuck to our guns on Europe right from the beginning, and we will continue to do so.
Let us work together for a less dark future.
Chair, West Midlands Liberal Democrats
