Unemployment has fallen again in Solihull, with latest figures showing just 1.7% across the borough claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in December 2014.
This means the Solihull claimant count fell by over half since the coalition government came into office, when it stood at 3.8%.
Elsewhere it was reported that UK unemployment is at its lowest level since 2008, and that the West Midlands saw the greatest fall in unemployment of any region in the UK.
Solihull Liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt said, “Solihull is leading the way in getting people off benefits and back into work.
“These new jobs are a reward for local people’s hard work, made possible by a stronger economy.
“I’m pleased to see people in Solihull benefiting from the tough decisions taken by the Lib Dems in government, to get our economy back on track and give everyone the chance to get on in life.”
